Love & Pride for LGBTQ
Today in Washington the city is alive with the Gay Pride Parade. It couldn't have been a more perfect day to see my dear friends and clients, Kate Warren and her son Haze. A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of cutting Haze's hair short for the first time. He left beaming. About that time, Haze was still Hazel, but just after, he let his parents know that he knew that he was not a girl, he was a boy. Kate (who's been my client since even before Haze was born) and her Husband were immediately supportive, as were Haze's school friends and teachers. Kate has become a fierce advocate for LGBTQ rights ever since.
I cut Haze's hair again today. He's a beaming, smart, and outgoing kid who loves polar bears and speaks Chinese. He was super happy to be in Washington, D.C. today with the city covered in rainbow flags to show the love of his community. I am so grateful to know him, and I am so grateful for the parents and loved ones of transgender children who know how wonderful and special their children truly are. - Alex
